Good job! It's time to wrap things up for this part of the course.

  • Geometry columns are quick, but they may produce incorrect results for large areas. They always require you to specify an SRID.
  • Geography columns are slow, but very accurate. They do not require SRIDs. Geography columns are essential when working with big areas, such as countries or continents.
  • Not all of the functions we learned can perform geography calculations or accept geography columns. If a function requires a geometry type, you can cast a geography column by appending ::geometry to its name.

Awesome! We'll now present a short quiz on the concepts you learned in this part of the course.
