Now that we know the variables, we can pose questions that our charts should answer. Typical questions related to the problem of composition are:

  • What part of the whole does this particular category constitute?
  • Do all of these categories contribute equally to the total?
  • Which category is the biggest part of the whole?

If at least one of these questions is posed during data analysis, you'll want to focus on a part of a whole problem.

As we continue this chapter, we will pose some composition questions that are specific to our dataset. Our charts will provide the answers.
